The Society is an exclusive importer of COTO MAYOR Crianza, Rose and White wines. 2005 was a vintage of extraordinary quality in the Coto Mayor vineyards. The weather was magnificent, especially during the harvest time, something which helped the ripening greatly. The wines have the ideal characteristics for ageing (high polyphenol, good alcohol, structure and balance).

The rose is rich in aromas of strawberries and raspberries also shows some violet and petals. Dry character, it does show a wide range of red fruits, sharp and crispy.

Coto Mayor White possesses a pleasant acidity which combines perfectly with an exquisite aftertaste of fruit and flowers.

Recently the Society of Vintners have added another Spanish wine: Señorial Tinto, this is a Rioja Vega Red wine, grape: 90% Tempranillo & 10% Granacha.

Tasting notes: Shiny dark crimson in colour with violet hues. As regards bouquet, it has a variety of well-assembled aromas with hints of red fruit. It is structured, rounded and balanced on the palate. Very pleasant to drink, complex and with many touches.

Also we have this in a RESERVA, Señorial. This is on a 2004 vintage and is a beautiful well balanced wine, oak aged with delicate aromas of cherries and chocolate, with wonderfully rounded tannins.

Further to the range of Spanish wines we have to offer, we have this very exclusive wine called "Vega Clara MARIO 2009" which is something a bit special. Grapes are: 75% Tempranillo - 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, production area Finca de Vega Clara. Pago de Carretuerta

WINEMAKER COMMENTS

MARIO 09 is grown in a very unique vineyard with 40-year-old vines located in Quintanilla de Onésimo.

2009 was a dry year in the Ribera de Duero with low pluviometry and a very hot summer with extreme temperatures that reached 40ºC several times. From the month of August, as is typical in the area, nights were mild resulting in a perfect poliphenolic ripening of the grapes and a perfect balance.

The 2009 harvest began October, 4th and lasted for 15 days. These dates are the usual time of harvest in the Ribera de Duero, therefore we can say that 2009 was a very typical Ribera de Duero vintage.

MARIO 09 presents a beautiful and intense cherry colour, with a medium-high layer.

MARIO 09 presents, as usual, an amazing nose of a very high intensity and complexity. Aromas of red berries and ripe cherries harmonize with spiced aromas, such as clove, sweet pepper and smoky notes coming from the barrels.

On the palate, MARIO 09 is powerful and strong, yet still silky and gentle. Very smooth and has elegant tannins. Creamy, balanced and with a very long aftertaste.

Vintage 2009 betters previous vintages from this winery, although continues to maintain its personality as well as the winery's personal signature: Elegance.
